this is an experiment

I think I can think of something more interesting to do with the previous photos, but in the mean time, here's what I've got - nothing innovative or fancy. In fact, you might even say it's a bit yonic. If only I, the daughter of a camera salesman, had a working camera to use, I think I could make something better. I'd also like to try a sculpture soon. We will see.

Oh! And happy Halloween.

UTILITARIAN TRIPTYCH

Okay. Here it is. You have to understand how embarrassing it feels to scan used squares of sandpaper in the middle of a large computer lab. I don't know whether anyone noticed - but that does not keep me from feeling kooky doing it. As crazy as it sounds, I thought these three squares would look really nice together (and I personally believe I was correct), and I must obey my instinct (so it obviously worked out). On further thought, the piece might even be nicer if it were nailed to a long wood board. I'll have to look into this.

I will throw in doodles from class for good measure!

ok, i failed.

Well, looks like I am unable to finish anything...It took me a while to figure out what direction I would take this, and consequently, I am nowhere close to done - even with this first page. There will be more - I think there needs to be more. I can tell it's going to be a long day.

On the bright side, though, I have succeeded in making something every day for 30 days.

broken down boxes

I'm serious this time. I'm going to finish the comic tonight. Here are some possible characters...my favorite is the first guy on the left in the third row. Oh! I've also made another Photoshop collage. I don't really know whether these have been good or bad, but they're definitely fun and a nice way to not do schoolwork.

squish

Imma work on the comic tonight. In the mean time, enjoy this fish and another Photoshop collage.

25 October 2008

they hate me

My computer is broken, I think. It's on and off broken. I started to draw a comic about speed dating. I've not gotten much done, nor do I have access to a scanner - but I do have access to a camera and another laptop that is not my own. So: here is the meager beginnings of my next comic.

24 October 2008

I really would rather draw a comic, but I haven't thought up any good ideas. I need to have one done by Tuesday...So this weekend I'll have to think of something. In the mean time, here is another collage of old collages, made on Photoshop. The cool thing about using Photoshop to reconstruct collages is that nothing can ever be exhausted - when cutting out shapes from a magazine, there is no copy function, so one must scrutinize over how each tiny scrap functions in the design... I think this freedom is, in some ways, a bad thing, though, because limitations can also force a person to be innovative. And everybody likes innovation.

breakin'

First I made sort of a crappy collage I didn't like a lot out of real live scraps of paper. Then, I scanned it in and made a digital collage out of it that I like much better. Both are above...I think you can figure out which is which.

4NG

My dear old friend asked me if I'd be interested in making cover art for albums he's releasing soon. This is one possibility. Maybe he will hate it.

Self Portrait

My professor stood me up tonight. Perhaps it was for the best. My heart can only handle so much.

Back in my nest. There's no place like home.

pumpkin

Pumpkin carving today - I made a Smurfette. My friend carved a skeleton.

Here's something new!!!

Instead of something visual, today I (with the help of a friend) made some delicious eggplant curry. I guess it's visual, but the pleasure came in eating it...not in looking at it, since it looks a lot like barf. Here is a picture, also, of my friend.

Toes Toes Toes Toes

Well, I am on vacation in Mount Pleasant for the weekend. Wow! I'm not going to falter, though. Honest. So here's the final SHAGNET flyer. Ta da.

16 October 2008

LAZYDAY

The beginnings of a flyer for Shagnet.

ALSO: Look at these meat faces Emma and I made in the kitchen of my house, kind of. Hers is the kitten, mine has a monocle.

for the men who sit by the construction site at night

I drew this man's face then pretended it was mine and had fun with it in photobooth:

But...better than nothing. I pledge to make something better this weekend.

08 October 2008

first part of a comic

Instead of working on a paper that is due tomorrow, I spent my day on and off working on this comic strip. It's going to be longer than one page, and I haven't quite finished the first, but it's at least a start.

07 October 2008

Light at the end

It's been a busy week and I'm very good at procrastinating every task I must complete. However, I'm not giving up on this project, no matter how "eh" these past few projects have been. This weekend, expect something more spectacular.
